How it began

I grew up in a small town on the eastern shore of Nova Scotia, on a small side street with a unique name like most small towns have. Good old Mushabom rd. I lived with my mom, dad and younger brother. I had a typical small town upbringing with most of my family living anywhere from 5-15 mins away. I have a large extended family with lots of cousins and we are all pretty close.

After high school I moved 4 hours away to the Annapolis Valley to go to college, that’s where I met Charlie. Not at college, but in a bar on, a Thursday night. I’ll get to that in a minute though. I moved to a small 2 bedroom apartment above a pizza place in town with another person from my high school. I woke up early on the first day in my new town, had a shower and went for a walk to do a little exploring. I started walking down the street past the hardware store and there was a guy outside putting bikes in front of the store he didn’t look too happy to be there. So I nodded and kept walking. It’s a small town but definitely bigger than what I was use to.

One Thursday night a few friends went out to the local bar. I was 18 and obviously they didn’t let me in so we went to a different one ! They did let me in ! So we danced and had fun for a few hours. It was getting close to closing time and my friend M seen some people she knew so our 2 tables turned into one big one. Across from me was this guy. The angry one from the hardware store and he was staring at me. So over I went and asked him to dance. He said “oh I don’t dance” to which I said “I don’t think you heard me. Let’s dance” he followed me and the rest is history or so they say 🙂
